2026 Annual Meeting of the Linguistic Society of America

The LSA is the world’s largest scholarly society devoted to advancing the scientific study of language. LSA members include scholars and students working in colleges and universities, and linguists employed in industry, non-profit, and industrial sectors. The LSA Annual Meeting in 2025 attracted more than 900 attendees and we expect similar numbers in 2026. More than one-third of attendees are graduate students. 

The 2026 LSA Annual Meeting will offer in-person and hybrid attendance options and will feature plenary sessions, scholarly panels, poster sessions, an Exhibit Hall where plenary poster sessions are held, as well as lively receptions and social gatherings. The Five-minute Linguist and Word of the Year events are bright spots in the Annual Meeting schedule. These fun-filled evening sessions bring hundreds of linguists into the same space to vote on the best 5-minute presentation of research findings for a general audience, and to select the Word of the Year, as well as the emoji of the year, the euphemism of the year, and more. LEXING provides a place of community, connection, and professional development for linguists working in industry, non-profits, and government.
